Don’t believe the myths about Aging

For as back in time as you can go, there have been myths about all kinds of things. When it comes to aging today, there are some myths that you should toss aside because they just are not true. Losing extra pounds will not extend your life, actually, a little weight can be protective for anyone over the age of 75.
The idea that everyone will need a hearing aid is another myth. Some hearing loss can be normal with age but it is a fact that only 35 percent of those over 80 really needs one. Someone once claimed that when you get old you will be withdrawn and crotchety. In truth, anyone who was cheerful in their 30′s can easily remain that way into their 80s.
One of the worst myths is that you will not have the energy to be able to exercise when you are in your 80s. Now, ninety is the new seventy and studies shows that at the age of seventy, exercising can improve your heart function by increasing heart mass and lowering that person’s resting heart rate. You might not see it often, but that elderly person jogging in the park is living proof that it is possible and the exercising myth is just a myth.
