If you smoke, then people who preach at you not to probably get on your nerves. However, these people are trying to do you a favor. When you smoke you are slowly poisoning your body with all sort of toxic chemicals. It has been proven that there are over 4000 different toxins contained within a cigarette. These toxins can lead you to develop conditions such as heart failure, a variety of cancers, asthma and many other serious conditions.
Unfortunately, smoking is addictive. Even if you know that it is bad for you, you may still carry on. Now that smoking is banned in public places, you have even more reason to quit.
Depending on how long you have been smoking, it has formed a part of your life. What you need to realize is that it is a part that you can do without. It is not a helpful addition to your being and needs to be stopped before it stops you.
There are several ways of quitting that may help you. These range from cold turkey and hypnotherapy to nicotine replacement. The main thing is to make sure that you take one day at a time. Telling yourself that you have given up for good is just setting yourself up to fail. Tell yourself that you won’t have a cigarette today and then try the same thing tomorrow.
