Legal Status of Mephedrone

meph6There are a lot of people who like to use the recreational drug Mephedrone. But, has anybody every pondered over the status of this drug with regard to various legalities in their own country as well as all over the world. Let us take a look at the laws in some of the countries around the world :-

1. Australia – This drug is not listed specifically as a prohibited one here. The Federal Police have recently made a statement which says that as it’s an analog it should be illegal. But, there have not yet been any arrests on this count yet. But, there were twenty two men arrested during February this year for the import of the drug.

2. Denmark – The Minister for Health & Prevention for Denmark, Jakob Axel Nielsen, had banned this drug on the 18th of December 2008 along with two other drugs,ethylcathinone and flephedrone.

3. Finland – Here, the Medicine Act has classified Mephedrone as a product used for medicinal purposes and this means that it is considered illegal to transfer, sell, possess, import or manufacture the drug if it does not involve a prescription.

4. Germany – In this country, the drug had been banned on the 22nd of January 2010.
